• Is BabyTote as safe as other sling carriers on the market?

Yes, BabyTote achieved ASTM 2907-22 certification in Jan 2025 ensuring compliance with rigorous safety standards. Proper use according to instructions is crucial to ensure safety.

    What is ASTM & 2907-22?

Advanced Standards Transforming Markets (ASTM) is a125 year old independent organization that defines standards across over 12,000 industries so consumers and businesses have confidence in the things they buy and use. 2907-22 is the safety standard for baby sling carriers updated most recently in 2022.

What are the key testing requirements under ASTM 2907-22?

Static Load Test: A weight equal to three times the manufacturer’s recommended maximum weight, (or 60 lbs, whichever is greater is placed in the carrier for 1 minute to ensure the carrier can safely handle this kind of weight.

BabyTote was tested to 60lbs but we recommend 24lbs.

Dynamic Load Test:  A weighted 35lb bag is subjected to 1,000 cycles of repeated lifting and lowering to test durability.

     Who conducted BabyTote’s safety tests?

The testing was conducted by INTERTEK , a 130 year old independent company specializing in Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification (ATIC) services with 40,000 employees in over 1,000 locations in 100 countries. They enable business to overcome the complex quality, safety and sustainability regulations and standards with their network of science-based individuals and teams.

    2) Is the lay-flat carry position safe?

Yes, lay-flat (lateral or arm cradle) is designed to support newborns naturally. Always ensure the carrier is properly adjusted and secured.

    3) Is the shoulder carry position safe?

Yes, the shoulder pad secures around both straps for added safety. The baby’s weight  keeps the straps taut ensuring stability. Proper adjustment and supervision are essential to maintain stability.

    4) Is the cross-body carry position safe?

Yes, this is BabyTotes ideal position - with straps across shoulder and chest baby is secure.

    5) Can my baby wiggle out of the carrier?

No carrier can guarantee 100% containment!  We have all held a wiggly baby, or a baby who bucks their hips up or twists their shoulders around or throws their head back and forth. So, if removing baby from the carrier in not an option, we recommend keeping an arm around the carrier for extra support.

    6) What is the maximum recommended weight for BabyTote?

    24lbs

    7) Are there any age restrictions for using BabyTote?

BabyTote is designed for newborns and infants up to 8 months.

  • Comfort

    1. How comfortable is BabyTote for babies?

10 out of 10 if our babies could vote. Baby-wearing is natural, recommended and popular because babies are soothed by moms heartbeat, smell, movement and warmth. What makes BabyTote a level above other carriers is the lay-flat / lateral carrying position. For bonus comfort points, baby remains in the lay-flat and cozy position during the transitions from cross-body to shoulder carry and even to crib/stroller/bassinet. Other carrier transitions jostle baby and remove them from their cozy wrapper resulting in an unhappy baby.

2.How comfortable is BabyTote for parents?

BabyTote is the most comfortable sling carrier on the market today for four reasons. Multiple carry positions - cross-body left and right, shoulder left and right.

    1. Easy transfers between caregivers.

    2. Smooth transitions for baby to crib/stroller/bassinet.

    3. Peace of mind with baby always facing upwards looking at you.

3.How easy is it to use BabyTote?

BabyTote is quick to put on when following these steps:

    1. Lay carrier on flat surface

    2. Place baby face-up with head in hood and body in center of carrier

    3. Grab straps, lift to desired carry position and go!

    4. How does BabyTote compare to other carriers in terms of breathability during warm weather?

We are the coolest carrier on the market because of BabyTote’s 100% breathable cotton materials and our shoulder carry option which removes the baby from caregivers body heat. Traditional carriers press baby against the body creating heat.

  • Can someone with limited arm mobility/disability use BabyTote?

How can someone with limited arm mobility/disability use BabyTote?

Bottle feedings with the cross-body carry position are a popular use case.

  • How do I clean my BabyTote?

Machine or Hand washable. Follow washing instructions on tag to maintain durability.

How long can I expect BabyTote to last with regular use?

A lifetime. We constructed BabyTote out of 13oz cotton canvas because of its durability, our stitching was chosen for its strength and our cotton strapping was upgraded to resist fraying. That embroidered logo is cosmetic and voted most likely to fray over time but it was too cute not to add it to the canvas.  Regular inspection for wear and tear is recommended.

Does BabyTote come with a warranty?

Yes, if your BabyTote develops a tear we will replace it. Stains and cosmetic issues are excluded because we know how messy baby can be and making BabyTote out of plastic wasn’t our vibe. If you have questions about an issue, send us a picture and we will figure it out together info@babytoteusa.com
